Tamandco Farm is situated in the heart of the beautiful Yarra Valley, Victoria.
At Tamandco, we use a blend of permaculture and conventional farming methods.
Our traditional English style garden provides a tranquil mix of deciduous trees, perenials and rose gardens providing
relaxation for the adults, whilst surrounding a children's paradise of open lawn areas and play equipment. The productive
areas of vegetable beds, fruit trees, chook pens and cow paddocks contribute by way of providing food for the table, but in
addition, every inhabitant is appreciated as a valued member, contributing to the whole system in a multitude of ways.
Our aim is to create a sustainable ecostructure catering for our own requirements whilst living in harmony with the environment.
Our aim is to grow the majority of our own food on the strictest budget permissable, using organic methods where ever possible
and producing good quality, home bred food free from poisons, hormones, antibiotics and genetic modification. Our goal is
to achieve self sufficiency, sustainability and reduce our impact on the environment.
Our system demonstrates that many permaculture principles CAN be put to practice whilst maintaining areas of recreation
and beauty in the traditional gardening sense. Whilst our goals are a long way from being achieved, the journey towards our
ideal lifestyle is both fascinating and rewarding.
We hope that by sharing our experiences, others hesitating to take the step towards an alternative lifestyle, will feel
inspired to reconsider the benefits of achievable alternatives to modern day living.
